Exosapien Technologies PX1 “Prosthesis”
In 2023, I contributed to the flagship PX1 “Prosthesis” prototype developed by Exosapien Technologies.
My scope focused on the design of the exterior panel system-responsible for defining the mech’s visual identity while remaining fully grounded in real-world manufacturing constraints.
Every surface was required to remain strictly planar to ensure efficient fabrication, imposing precise limits on curvature, articulation, and surface logic. Rather than restricting the design, these constraints became the framework for a highly deliberate problem-solving process, where proportion, segmentation, and surface rhythm carried the visual impact.
Through multiple exploratory directions, we converged on a solution that balances industrial clarity with presence and intent—the final design presented here.
A particularly meaningful moment was seeing the PX1 appear in a recent MrBeast video, facing strongman Hafthor Björnsson—an unexpected but powerful public glimpse of what could represent the next evolutionary step for Exosapien. It was a rare intersection of advanced engineering, speculative design, and global cultural visibility.
